Poovar
Poovar is a small village in the Trivandrum district of Indian State of Kerala. One of the most beautiful wonders, this is a place where River, Lake, Beach and Sea meet the land. The strikingly marvelous beach of the Village attracts tourist from India and across the world. The village is a trading center of sandlewood, spices, timber and ivory. As per the legend, the King Solomon trading ships landed in a port known as 'Ophir' which later on became Poovar. The serene backwaters have the soothing effects and it eases all the worries.
The nearest airport to the place is Thiruvananthapuram International airport. The nearby railhead is also Thiruvananthapuram which is 45 minutes drive from the village. Encompassed by lovely palm grooves, exotic backwaters and lovely beaches, Poovar is a favorite nestling place for nature loving tourists. Though the place do not houses large number of hotels, it is a blessing in disguise as the city retains the breathing space.
