Bodhgaya is located in Gaya District of Bihar. This place is well known because Buddha attained Enlightment here. Earlier the city was called Bodhimanda and this place had large number of monasteries. One of the holiest places, Bodhgaya is an important pilgrimage site, other being Lumbini, Kushinagar and Sarnath. Mahabodhi Temple is the main attraction of the city which has a diamond throne known as Vajrasana and the holy Bodhi tree.

Bodhgaya is easily accessible by air, rail and roads. Gaya is the nearest airport, around 16 kilometers from the place. One can get cheap price flights by Druk Air from Bangkok. The nearby railhead is also Gaya from where the tourist can take a bus or 3 wheel taxi to Bodhgaya which costs ten rupees per person. A main road connects from Gaya to Bodhgaya – thanks to Bihar State Tourist Development Coporation there is a regular bus service at this place.
