Jodhpur
, located at Rajasthan, is the second largest city of the state. It was founded by Rao Jodha in the year 1459. At that time the city was known as Marwar. Jodhpur is famous for its glorious palaces, temples and forts. Through out the year the city enjoys the sunny weather and is referred as the Sun City. Around the Mehrangarh Fort, there is an indigo tinge of the whitewashed houses and so the city is also known as the Blue City. The thick stone wall which surrounds the Jodhpur old city has six huge gates called Sojati gate, Nagauri gate, Siwanchi gate, Merati gate, Jalori gate and Chand pol. It is also an important trade centre of spices, crafted goods etc.
Mehrangarh Fort is the major tourist attraction place and it offers a splendid view of the city. The city is witnessing an increase in the number of tourists year after year.
